Fall Photo Sessions Los Angeles

Nothing like a portrait session with 3 generations! Not everyone is organized enough for an extended family session, but these folks have it down! Every 2 or 3 years this close-knit West LA family gets together to have their portraits updated.

This year, they came to me for some relaxed family portraits in the lovely Franklin Canyon Park.

I love when I get a chance to work with multiple generations in a session. Like being invited to someone’s house for Thanksgiving, you get to spend a few hours as an honorary member of the family… treated to all the old nicknames, inside jokes and family lore. Personally, I find it endlessly entertaining to discover, and capture, all the different ways that families belong to one another.

With an extended family session I always aim for a variety of more traditional and, ahem, more relaxed portraits. It’s not easy to get such a large group together, so we make sure to squeeze everything we can out of the session.

I’m still wondering what his brother said to him…

With family schedules returning to normal and the holidays looming, fall is the perfect time for a portrait session. And, if you’re brave enough… you may want to consider making it an extended family session!
