As a mom and Los Angeles photographer, there’s nothing better than having the opportunity to document a family’s journey from the very beginning. This sweet family joined my First Year Collective last year, and recently we wrapped up their final session by celebrating their little one’s first birthday. Watching them grow over the past year has been such an amazing experience, and today, I’m sharing a glimpse into their sessions.
The Maternity Session

Our journey began with their maternity session at my studio in Los Angeles. As a mom myself, I know there’s nothing quite like the excitement and anticipation of first-time parents, and these two were no exception. We spent time capturing their love, connection, and the joy of preparing to meet their baby.
The Newborn Session

When their little one made their arrival it was time for their newborn session which was filled with all the best tiny details. Those teeny fingers, sleepy stretches, and the way their baby fit so perfectly in their arms. I always say that newborn sessions are just as much about the parents as they are about the baby, and this one was no exception. Capturing those first quiet snuggles and the pure joy in their faces as they soaked in their new little love was truly special.
The Sitter Session

By the time we met again for their sitter session, their baby was full of personality. That sweet spot between 6-9 months is one of my absolute favorites. Babies at this age are sitting up, giggling, and giving the best expressions.
The First Birthday Session

And just like that, we found ourselves at the final session for the first birthday celebration. If you’ve been following my work for a while, you know I’m not about the over-the-top cake smash setups. Instead, I love focusing on timeless portraits that truly celebrate this incredible milestone. The family wanted a simple, natural look, and we kept the focus on their baby’s curiosity, joy, and that adorable one-year-old energy. Watching them interact as a family, reflecting on how much had changed in just twelve months, was such a full-circle moment.
Families like this are exactly why I love the First Year Collective; because it’s not just about capturing one stage, it’s about telling your baby’s story without the stress of having to plan. These sessions are a way to preserve each milestone before time moves too quickly. Looking back at this family, you can see the growth, the love, and the moments that make this first year so incredibly meaningful.
