Featured one of LA’s best maternity photographers – Read my clients’ FAQs

October 10, 2022

A big thank you to Expertise for featuring me as one of Los Angeles’s best maternity photographers!

I thought this would be a great opportunity to round up some of my maternity clients’ frequently asked questions. If you’re searching for a maternity photographer in Los Angeles, these may be questions you have as well!

1: When’s the best time to take maternity photos?

I recommend taking your maternity photographs between 30 and 35 weeks. This window falls between months 7 and 8 of pregnancy. Scheduling your maternity session for this time will give you the most flattering photographs. Your baby bump will be big enough that you look pregnant, but you will not yet be too swollen and uncomfortable. Usually, your baby will not have dropped yet, so your bump will still be riding high.

Another great reason to take maternity photos before 35 weeks? You won’t miss out on your maternity if your baby arrives a little bit early.

2: I’m nervous about being photographed, how do I relax during my maternity photoshoot?

A lot goes into creating gorgeous, relaxed maternity portraits, and it’s MY job, not yours, to know how to do it all.

Before your session, I’ll help guide you on what to wear and how to prepare for your shoot. During the session, I’ll be using the most flattering lighting, shooting angles, and posing. After your session, my dedicated retoucher will perfect your images with subtle but effective retouching.

I promise you will look like the very best version of yourself!

3: Should I choose a studio or outdoor maternity session?

Okay, there isn’t a quick answer to this one. Both studio and outdoor maternity sessions have their benefits. To find out which vibe suits you best, I recommend taking a look at this blog post where I compare my studio and outdoor maternity sessions.
