After searching for organic newborn photography in Los Angeles, this family found me, and I’m thrilled that they did. I also photographed their maternity session and was excited to meet their new baby, and he did not disappoint!
After years as a Los Angeles newborn photographer, I can tell you that newborns do NOT all look the same. Each baby I photograph has unique features and traits. One of the best parts of my job is finding these little details and documenting them for their parents. For example, this little guy had the BEST pouty lips.
Making baby the focus
One of the benefits of organic newborn photography is that the focus remains on your baby. Newborn photography without props, costumes, or sets means that there is nothing to distract from your gorgeous new baby. Lovely light, pretty knits and wraps, and the loving arms of their parents are all the elements I need to create the perfect newborn portrait. I like to say that my newborn photos are full of emotion and free from distractions! Just look at this little chap nestled into his parents.
Natural Newborn Posing
The second element of organic newborn photography is natural posing. My sessions are baby-led, so I choose poses and positions that your baby is comfortable in. I pay close attention to your baby’s body language and other cues, and I can quickly tell if we are headed in a direction that your baby isn’t comfortable with. In that case, we move on to a pose into which your baby can relax. Most newborn babies love curling up as they did in the womb, and this little one sure did. If you are looking for these curly, sleepy images, the best time to photograph your newborn is in the first couple of weeks of their life.
