i'd love to hear from you!
As a Los Angeles maternity photographer, I offer both outdoor and studio maternity sessions. Many of my clients come to me with the same question you have: should I choose an outdoor or studio maternity session?
While I can’t decide for you, I can give you some information to help make the choice a bit easier!
Benefits of a studio maternity session
My studio maternity sessions are photographed with the same minimalist aesthetic as my newborn work. If you are looking for timeless and classic maternity portraits, this is probably the session for you.
Clean and simple images
Photographed in the same simple aesthetic as my newborn work, your studio maternity portraits celebrate pregnancy’s quiet power and natural beauty.
My 500 foot studio features white walls, soft light, and a queen bed with luxe white linens. It’s the perfect place for the simple, minimalist maternity portraits you’ve been dreaming of.
Two wardrobe looks
Studio maternity sessions include a wardrobe change, so you’ll be photographed with two different looks. Most of my clients choose a dress for one half of the session and a robe for the other half. If you prefer, you can skip the more intimate portraits and choose two different dresses for your session.
Intimate maternity portraits
Most of my studio maternity clients opt for a more intimate second look, such as undies and a robe. My studio is a safe and comfortable space for these more intimate maternity portraits.
Benefits of an outdoor maternity session
Looking to bring a bit of natural beauty and color into your session? The garden maternity session may just be for you!
Gorgeous, golden hour light
Garden sessions start 1.5 hours before sunset, during the “magic hour”. Your garden maternity images are bathed in soft, warm light.
Plenty of variety
I photograph my outdoor maternity sessions in a 3-acre garden garden on the border of Pasadena and South Pasadena. This garden, which is run as a non-profit, and maintained by volunteers, is a true hidden gem! The garden is filled with native Souther California and Mediterranean plants. The garden boasts many beautiful backdrops and gives your gallery tons of variety.
Fun for kids
Including baby’s siblings in your session? The garden is tons of fun for kids of all ages. Little ones love exploring and finding hidden surprises in the garden. The garden gives them room to roam and is a great place to explore while you are having your solo portraits taken.
Whether you choose a studio or outdoor maternity session…
Whether you choose to visit me in the studio or join me in the garden, you’ll have a wonderful experience and come away with gorgeous maternity portraits.
Natural Images
I photograph all my sessions with a natural feel and a simple aesthetic. You won’t find over-the-top wardrobe, props, or dramatic posing. My mission is to highlight your natural beauty during pregnancy and help you document your growing bond with your baby.
Studio Wardrobe
Whether you choose in indoor or outdoor session, you’ll have access to the studio wardrobe collection. Choose from gorgeous dresses by Rachel Pally, Doen, Ingrid & Isabel, Baltic Born, and more. My dress collection is carefully curated, so you’ll find dresses that fit, flatter, and photograph beautifully. I’ll also help you style the rest of your family!
If you choose a studio session, we’ll have time at the start of your session to try-on and choose wardrobe. For outdoor sessions I will book you in for a fitting appointment a few days prior to your session.
Expert Direction
Don’t worry, I do not expect you to be a natural model! I will be giving you constant direction and prompts to help you relax and look your best.
